ARE YOU HEARING THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH IN YOUR HEART?

The Spirit of Truth is one of the most valuable and important gifts God has given mankind.

It is important to realize that soul and spirit are completely different. The transformation of the soul (will, emotions, intellect) comes when we let our spirit speak truth to our soul.

It is important to realize that soul and spirit are completely different. The transformation of the soul (will, emotions, intellect) comes when we let our spirit speak truth to our soul.

We are all carrying around a spirit of truth, but it is buried under a mountain of lies from the world, flesh and devil. Babylon (the world) treats the souls of men as merchandise. “And the merchants of the earth weep and mourn over her, for no man buys their merchandise anymore; merchandise of gold, and silver, and precious stone, and pearls . . . and cattle, and sheep, and merchandise of horses and chariots and slaves (Gr. bodies); and souls of men.” (Rev. 18.11-13) The world is out to capture the souls of men and silence the truth the spirit is speaking.

The soul of man has tremendous power. When Adam became a living soul, he was given the ability to take dominion over the earth, great brain power to name all the animals, and the managerial power to tend a huge garden between four rivers hundreds of miles across. These powers were passed down to us and the accomplishments of man prove the incredible power of the soul. We all can see the power of the soul of man that has created flight, medical breakthroughs, computers, communication devices, and traveled to the moon among thousands of other miracles of inventions.

But without the Spirit of truth feeding the soul, it can be used for tremendous destruction. It can dominate and abuse other souls. It can put others in prisons of control. It can use its creative power to invent incredible evil. It can control whole nations and take them into unnecessary war and evil holocausts. Today there is a great battle going on for the souls of men. False philosophies like Political Correctness, Marxism, nihilism, relativism, and utopianism, are capturing the soul our nation and its children. Advertisers are netting souls with appeals to greed, pride and position.

As individuals, if we mistake the soul for the spirit we can put ourselves in a prison of lies, and shut the door to the divine power of the spirit.

The soul can even be manipulated by religion and can convince us we are right when we are dead wrong. The trouble with the church system is that it mostly speaks to soul – exciting the emotions, fostering pride of intellect, and directing the will away from God’s plan for individuals. This is why we walk away from church many times unfulfilled and empty.

So how can we let our spirit feed our souls?

David gives us a good example of spirit speaking to soul. Psa. 42:5 “Why are you discouraged, my soul? Why are you so restless? Put your hope in God, because I will still praise him. He is my savior and my God. My soul is discouraged. That is why I will remember you in the land of Jordan, on the peaks of Hermon, on Mount Mizar.” He repeats this three times “Why are you discouraged, my soul?” So the spirit speaks to the soul and says to praise God.

For sixty-eight years, my soul told me I was an idiot. It was fed by past experiences in family and school. Then one day I allowed my spirit to speak the truth about the lie and I was set free. When I asked, “What is the lie behind my anger,” I was allowing my spirit to speak truth to my soul.

The Spirit is one of the greatest gifts God has given man. It is exciting to realize that we all have a spirit who is speaking truth to us right now. All we have to do is listen. We don’t have to go looking for truth from somewhere else or a book or a person. Truth is within me speaking. [I Jn. 2:27 “As for you, the anointing that you received from him remains in you, so that you do not need anyone to teach you. But his anointing teaches you about everything and is true and not false; just as it taught you, remain in him.”]

Not that books and messages can’t feed our spirits. They can, but the spirit only responds to truth. When there is “food for the soul” it can be emotions and thoughts that are not necessarily of the spirit of truth. Spirit will filter out the lies and tell the soul when it is off base – like when it points to our pride, exaggerations in speaking, seeking egoistic approval, guided by greed, speaking lies to ourselves, etc. So I want to listen to my spirit to get the truth.

“When you recognize that there is a voice in your head that pretends to be you and never stops speaking, you are awakening out of your unconscious identification with the stream of thinking. When you notice that voice, you realize that who you are is not the voice — the thinker — but the one who is aware of it. Knowing yourself as the awareness behind the voice is freedom.” (Eckhart Tolle, “Silence Speaks.”)

The world will come together then we communicate spirit to spirit. The kingdom of God is letting spirit speak to us and speaking spirit to spirit to others. The more that happens, the more the leaven of the kingdom fills the loaf. Listening to my spirit and drawing out other’s spirits will spread the kingdom. When we run into someone speaking out of spirit, we are drawn to listen, because deep calls to deep and it is satisfying on a new level. When communication is spirit to spirit it tends to “stick” in us and is permanent.
